Our groomers can do wonders, but the real magic happens between visits. A short daily brush keeps the coat healthy, spreads natural oils and lets you spot lumps, ticks and sore spots early.
Pick the right brush
- Slicker brush for medium and long coats — gentle, coated pins.
- Rubber curry for short coats; it doubles as a massage.
- Wide-tooth comb to check you’ve reached the skin.
Brush in the right order
Start where your pet enjoys it — usually the back and shoulders. Brush in the direction of the coat, in short strokes, holding the hair at the base so you never pull the skin. Leave legs, belly and tail for last.
Never fight a mat
Tight mats pull painfully on the skin. Work them loose with your fingers and a little cornstarch, or leave them for us. Never cut a mat with scissors — the skin is closer than it looks.
Make it a treat
Keep sessions short, end before your pet gets bored and reward generously. Within a couple of weeks, the brush becomes a signal for something good.
